The Grandies computer is an infrequent use computer or one that is used mainly to send e-mails. It spends most of its time powered off and gathering dust until it is needed to make an e-mail and send it or view pictures of the grandkids. It's not a computer that needs a lot of power nor a lot of bells and whistles, but it does need to work when it's needed... no questions asked. Stability is the most important thing here. |
This is someone who uses their computer almost every day and must bebe one that can be perfect at multitasking. Many students will have an MP3 player going along with the web browser and possibly a Word document at the same time. The system needs to be stable and midrange powerful, but always on at a budget. Students also like to have their computers personalized as they may share rooms with others who have computers that are comparable to theirs students like to standout.

The Family Computer is a computer that is used by a number of people in a family from kids to adults. This means that the computer will have to have a lot of Internet security measures as well as protected files to minimize damage to the system files. A good mid-range CPU is good to use here and it needs plenty of RAM to handle all the programs for it's different users. This computer would also benefit from a high storage capacity to hold all the different downloads and programs.

There may be UPS systems and mission-critical applications such as reports presentations and accounts. The Internet junkie is a person who uses their computer constantly... everyday for more than 6 hours a day. They can't live without it. Most likely they will the one ONLY one using it. It's always on, sometimes always downloading, and always has a large demand on its resources. This computer doesn't need the strongest video capabilities, but it does need of a high-grade CPU and at least 2 GB of RAM, a gigabit LAN and a lot of multimedia accessories such as MP3 players a movie media players and DVD players.

The computer enthusiast will have lots of outboard gear such is 5.1 or 7.1 speaker sets, multiple monitors and likely very large monitors or even I three and four monitor setups this requires multiple video cards, an outboard soundcard and a motherboard that can handle high-bandwidth and usually been the top-of-the-line latest CPU and RAM, also look for overclocking options. This is not an inexpensive computer, but is the hieght of entertainment technology. |
